Honeymoon in St. Lucia!

Three days after our wedding in Catalina we headed to another amazing island for our honeymoon. St. Lucia was ABSOLUTELY incredible! Our beach cottage felt like something out of a Corona commercial. We spent 10 days relaxing in the most beautiful place we've ever seen. Breakfast on our patio every morning with fresh baked pain au chocolat and the best Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee...we're still thinking about it. The staff at our hotel, Calabash Cove, was amazing and made us feel like we were the only people there. They literally brought us homemade rum punch to us in our private plunge pool, while the ladies from the spa would come by now and then to spritz us with rosewater! Scott's favorite part was the hammock on the cottage patio, where he took at least one nap a day. The food was beyond delicious as well. We were actually gourmet-ed out, by the time we left, which is good because we probably gained 10 lbs each while we were there. One of our favorite things was the outdoor shower! It was completely private, but open from above and accessible from the wrap around patio. Flowers and vines hung from above and we most always had a little gecko hang out while we shampooed Our housekeeper, Barbara, left us sweet notes congratulating us and covered our room in flowers everyday. . It was absolutely perfect.

On the very few occasions we actually left the hotel, we went into the rainforest for a zip line tour of the rainforest canopy, which was one of the coolest things we've ever done. A "canopy tram" took us up into the canopy of the rainforest and through the mountains where we hiked to the the first of 9 zip line platforms that took us through the rainforest. It was soooo much fun! Scott even took the camera and took some video of his last zip. Our tour guides were both really knowledgeable and everyone was really eco-conscience and had backgrounds in environmental education, but they they entertained us the most with their stories about St. Lucian urban legends! We asked them if there were any Sasquatch or Big Foot type stories like we have at home. No Big Foot, but some of the stories that they had were hilarious, especially one about stealing an egg and hiding under your pillow for a few days until a little man hatched from it, whom you order to kill one of your enemies?!? There was some really creative way of killing him as well, but we can remember what it was exactly. So, I guess we're out of luck if we're ever attacked by a small egg man.

Between the rainforest, candlelit dinner on the pier, laying on a gorgeous beach completely by ourselves (except for our server who would bring us drinks from the bar), sunset massages overlooking the ocean and floating in our pool most of the day, it's a wonder we ever came back home! We couldn't have asked for anything more perfect and we're so ridiculously grateful to everyone who helped us get there. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

26 miles across the sea...

We spent the best day of our lives in our favorite place with our favorite people in the whole world! It was the most incredible day of our lives and we loved every minute of it. We never thought that a tour of the tiny town of Avalon on Catalina Island would work for a wedding, but it turned into such an amazing a event. Everyone in attendance made the day so special for us and we're so grateful to have spent such a perfect day with everyone.

Here are the photos from our special day, taken by photographer extraordinaire Nicole Fields.
